Employee Volunteer Scheme

Through our community volunteer scheme, every Paragon employee can take a paid day out each year to volunteer for a community project. In 2023, we achieved 469 volunteering days.

We focus our efforts on supporting projects which:

  • support people who are experiencing poverty
  • strengthen education of school children and young people
  • improve the local environment

Volunteer Scheme Partners

Our employee volunteer scheme has helped us to build links with a wide range of organisations.

Homeless people

SIFA Fireside

SIFA Fireside is a specialist centre in Birmingham, which provides regular meals, clothing and medical assistance to homeless people. Volunteers help with catering and other support tasks.

Business in the community

Smart Futures Programme

Canal River Trust

Volunteers work with the Canal River Trust, clearing litter and overgrown vegetation to keep the canal side in tip-top condition.

Local schools

Secondary schools

We foster strong links with local schools, joining in a range of careers days and helping students with CV writing and interview schools. In Solihull, we regularly work with:

  • St Peter’s School
  • Alderbrook School
  • Tudor Grange Academy
  • Solihull Sixth Form
Arden Academy
Primary school volunteers

Brays School

Paragon volunteers from our Motor Finance team helped at Brays School, a school which supports students with special educational needs or education health and care plans. The team cleaned up the outdoor areas, including painting, planting and tidying.

Charity of the Year

Each year, we focus our fundraising activities on a Charity of the Year, voted for by our employees. This year it's Molly Ollys Wishes, a charity supporting children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Employees fundraise in a variety of different ways, including:

  • sponsored challenges
  • fundraising activities and events
  • donating a regular contribution from their monthly salary

In the 12 months to end September 2023, employees raised over £45,000 for Newlife.

Local community charities

In 2023, these contributions totalled £55,000+. Our main objective is to support those serving the communities in which we operate. Most recently, we helped a range of local schools, sports clubs, hospitals and hospices, as well as charities including:

  • The Down’s Syndrome Association
  • UK Sepsis Trust
  • Prostate Cancer UK

Christmas hamper

Christmas hampers for CAP clients

In 2022, employees filled 51 hampers with food and gifts on behalf of the debt counselling charity, Christians Against Poverty. The hampers were then delivered to families in the West Midlands area dealing with debt and in need of some extra care at Christmas.

‘Once again, our hopes and expectations were exceeded. All the helpers, when they saw the hampers, were taken aback by the care and thought that had gone into the gifts chosen and the way the hampers were being presented. It quite simply took our breath away.’
