Training and development


Investors in People

Paragon has been accredited under the ‘Investors in People’ scheme since 1997, with Gold status confirmed once again in February 2016. This demonstrates our commitment to the training and development of all our employees.

In 2014, Investors in People also invited Paragon to receive Champion status. This is given to organisations who are viewed as pioneers in people management practices and role models in strategic leadership and is currently held by only 1% of companies in the UK.

Identifying training opportunities

To help employees in developing their careers and to identify and provide appropriate training opportunities, all employees receive an appraisal at least annually. Appraisals also provide a method to track individual’s progress and identify opportunities to develop them into further roles, thereby supporting our overall succession planning objectives.

Training and development strategy

The corporate training and development strategy focuses on providing opportunities to develop all employees and is central to the achievement of the Group’s business objectives.

Paragon’s in-house development team deliver leadership development programmes, externally accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (‘CMI’), to support managers.

On average employees received 9.0 days training in the year (2016: 8.5 days), which is significantly higher than the average figure quoted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development of between 2.8 and 3.3 days for the private sector.
