CISCO Security Analyst

Purpose of the role

To assess, analyse, underwrite and process all new buy-to-let mortgage applications from receipt of application through to offer of loan. You will be required to maintain service levels whilst ensuring the company’s credit policy and procedures are adhered to.

Duties & responsibilities
  • Strategic
    • Understand the wider security landscape of Paragon Bank and security issues of that UK Financial services face
    • Understand and interrupt business and IT strategy and what that potentially means to the Network security of the bank 
  • Technical
    • Responsible for optimum configuration of Cisco security applications
    • To build strong working relationships with the IT. network team and ensure security requirements are presented in clear terms 
    • To perform activities required for project delivery as directed by senior team members or to self-mange where required
    • To be a member of and manage Cyber Security incidents as part of Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT)
  • Procedural
    • Follow core processes and procedures such as change control etc.
    • Keep appropriate records and update documentation or checklists as applicable.
    • Devise educational materials as required.
    • Work with third party providers where applicable.
  • People, Project and Budget
    • Assist analysts in the execution of the Cyber Security operational functions.
    • Act as subject matter expert for this layer of security as part of Paragons defence-in-depth security model
    • Mentor / educate junior team members
  • Cisco or SANS network security certifications preferred or equivalent work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention, NextGen firewalls (FirePowers), VPN, data loss prevention, data encryption, SIEM appliances, and multi-factor authentication systems
  • Experience with Cisco ISE, Umbrella, and Stealthwatch and Talos is desired
  • An ability to learn new technologies and adopt new information security tools
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication and people skills
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications and experience

Must hold or be in the process of working towards Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA) qualification.

Working hours

08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday (1 hour lunch) but with out-of-hours cover as required (to be discussed at interview)


Relevant training will be provided.
