Brief description

This is a new opportunity to join our IT department as a Team Leader. As a technical expert you will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with new hardware and software technologies. The role requires a mixture of technical and people management experience so you can hit the ground running.

Purpose of the role

The Client Server Team Leader is a point of escalation for end users, a focal point for project activity and the effective owner of the tools, hardware and software used to deliver the services within the teams. They are the technical expert for servers and desktop client. You will be responsible for resolving and managing all key service issues and will take a proactive role in service improvement and project work. You will also own the issue and workloads for the Desktop Client and Server teams.

Skills
  • Understand major technical development direction of suppliers within own sphere of expertise
  • Manage server and desktop environments to agreed availability and performance targets
  • Actively drive security improvements
  • Proactively drive activities to reduce service risk, increase resilience or improve performance working to reduce long term issues with problem management
  • Manage and improve key subsystems within the server environment (eg SCCM under Windows)
  • Drive resolution of incidents and problems, especially those with a security implication, and take proactive action to avoid occurrence or repeats
  • Ensure auditable adherence to DPA, ISO27001 and other applicable legislation and standards
  • Follow core processes and procedures such as change control and incident logging
  • Support budgeting for license or equipment provision as required
  • Provide team leadership and people management, including 1-2-1’s, appraisals, disciplinaries, objective setting and regular team meetings
  • Ability to install, maintain, configure, operate and where applicable discontinue operating systems within scope of expertise
  • Ability to install, maintain, configure and resolve issues with key applications such as backup suites, archive facilities and distribution software
  • In depth knowledge of security facilities (hardware, firmware and software) and their ongoing maintenance
  • Ability to evaluate likely impact of future releases or upgrades
  • Understanding of the technical interlinks between different service components and resolving issues pertaining to such linkages
  • Scripting and automation skills and the ability to identify possible automation opportunities

Qualifications and experience

People management experience and a high level of server knowledge including MS Windows Servers, storage, VMWare, AD and Office 365.

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch).

Relevant training will be provided.
