Reporting to the Head of Business Change and Simplification, the Senior Business Analyst will have line management responsibilities as well as their own direct responsibilities working with all levels of stakeholders to ensure the solution is understood by all concerned parties and changes effectively scoped, defined and implemented to the required standards.

This full-time position will support business transformation and brings opportunity to engage stakeholders across the Group.

Purpose of the role

Be the recognised expert in Business Analysis with in depth expertise across all stages of the change process ensuring that the business change needs are correctly understood. This will be achieved through assessing the business impact of those changes, capturing, analysing and writing business requirements and outcomes from which IT can design and build a solution, supporting the communication and delivery of requirements with relevant stakeholders. You will also be co-ordinating and managing the responsibilities for the Business Analysis team, setting objectives, coaching and managing performance.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Line management responsibilities for Business Analysis team, setting objectives, coaching and managing performance
  • Perform business analysis in the initiation and business case stages of a project to ensure the why, what, when and how much is comprehensively understood before getting approval to deliver the idea
  • Work with the IT architect to ensure costs, timescales and any feasibility constraints are sufficiently understood and conveyed to the business
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans, lead teams to achieve milestones and objectives
  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational outcomes
  • Due to the complexity and priority of the Group initiatives, the candidate will typically operate with a broad latitude in a complex environment
  • Asked to make significant process design decisions
  • Asked to change tack at short notice to help keep other areas of the project on track
  • Expected to increase their own understanding of related business and technical subjects to provide solutions to all problems

Skills

  • 8+ years relevant Business Analysis experience within Financial Services and Banking Operations
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, performance and cost metric identification, definition and presentation
  • Expert in clarifying, defining and writing business outcome requirements (Epics, Features and User Stories) documents for IT teams to develop from
  • Expert in business process analysis/ reengineering including GAP analysis (As-is/ To-be)
  • A focused proactive approach, self-motivated and able to acquire new skills and grasp concepts quickly
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organisational, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels within the business and to justify positions or solutions using reasoned argument
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure, to use initiative and to recognise and act upon priorities
  • Strong Agile (Safe) framework expertise desirable

Qualifications and experience

Experienced Business Analysts with a minimum of 5 years line management experience. Ideally you will have experience of working in the financial services industry and have working knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall working.

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch).

Training

Relevant training will be provided.
