Brief description

We are recruiting for an Underwriting Support Officer on a 12 month, fixed-term basis. If you have a good eye for detail and an interest in mortgage underwriting this could be the position for you.

Purpose of the role

To work closely with the buy-to-let mortgage underwriters and assist the team in processing applications through to offer.

Duties & responsibilities
  • Complete final checks and issue mortgage offers
  • Assess additional information provided by various 3rd parties
  • Liaise by phone to intermediaries
  • Liaise closely with senior mandate holders, surveyors, legal and Support Services
  • Liaise with Completion Officers regarding ad hoc mortgage conditions where appropriate
  • Action daily exception reports
  • Complete general administration tasks to support the team
  • Upload property details onto Aries and through a 3rd party portal
  • Assess access details
  • Some understanding of the mortgage lifecycle
  • Some business awareness and knowledge of the buy-to-let mortgage industry
  • Ability to learn and adapt to a changing and demanding environment
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong verbal communication skills

Qualifications and experience

Grade C or above GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Working knowledge of Aries would be an advantage

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch)


Relevant training will be provided.
